Community rallies as Envision Financial contributes $50,000 to support flood victims and recovery efforts

LANGLEY, BC — Envision Financial, a division of First West Credit Union, is supporting flood relief efforts by contributing $50,000 to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund (ADRF). Managed by the Abbotsford Community Foundation in partnership with the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and the University of the Fraser Valley, the ADRF serves as the central hub for receiving donations and distributing support to families, farms, businesses and local agencies responding to the recent flooding.

“Time and again, the people of Abbotsford prove their extraordinary resilience and deep compassion in the face of crisis,” said Areni Kelleppan, Executive Director at Abbotsford Community Foundation. “Right now, we’re supporting the critical needs of flood impacted community members – shelter, food, clothing, & other essentials. If you’re able to help, please consider contributing to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund—every dollar stays in our community to support those who need it most.”

Reactivated following the recent state of local emergency, the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund has a proven track record—raising several million dollars during the 2021 floods to support long-term recovery. Local business organizations, including the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce, are once again encouraging coordinated giving to ensure support flows efficiently to those most affected.

“Many of our members and employees have been directly affected by the flooding, and as someone who calls this region home, I feel that impact deeply,” said Tamara Hendsbee, President at Envision Financial. “In times like these, supporting one another isn’t just something we talk about—it’s who we are. We encourage anyone who is able to support the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund so we can help families, farms and local businesses find their footing again.”

First West is also continuing its support for the Archway Abbotsford Food Bank, which is playing a key role in meeting immediate community needs around food security.

Community members, partners and businesses who are able to help are encouraged to contribute to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund. To learn more or donate, visit: https://abbotsfordcf.org/granting/disaster/
