Mark Moreland

Vice-President, Finance

Mark Moreland is a strategic finance and business leader who has led and mentored large and diverse teams through significant growth, change and major business transformations. He has achieved this by creating positive working environments, encouraging creativity and empowering people to succeed and progress. With two decades experience in senior executive finance, facilities, technology and business leadership roles, Mark brings an unmatched depth of experience to First West Credit Union.

Before joining First West, Mark held a similar role in Island Savings and became part of the First West team through the merger process in 2015. He has also held senior roles at WCG, a federal and provincial government service provider and, before moving to Canada from England in 2010, was an executive and board member at one the United Kingdom’s largest and oldest mutual medical, life and protection insurers, The Exeter. Prior to The Exeter, Mark held Senior IT Leadership roles in a number of organizations including Brittany Ferries, one of Europe’s largest ferry operators.

Since joining the credit union industry, Mark has focused his attention on leading the implementation of financial strategy, bringing excellence to financial operations and to building an accountable and first class finance and accounting function. 

Mark currently represents First West on the board of directors of Bulkley Valley Insurance Services and has previously held a number of volunteer board positions with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Plymouth, a CPA, CMA professional accountancy designation and a long-held Chartered IT Professional designation from the British Computer Society.
